How To Pin Your Location On Google Maps – It’s easier to tell a friend where to meet you if you’re in a location with a real address. But what if you try to find each other in a big park? Or trying to get directions to your super secret campsite down that nameless dirt road?
There’s an easier way to do this than just saying “turn left at the cow behind the big tree”: take a stab at Google Maps.

That way, when you share it with your friend, you’ll tell them exactly where you are, not the nearest street (which could be miles away).
How To Drop A Pin On Google Maps (mobile And Desktop)
Let’s take a look at the steps to add (and remove) a pin from Google Maps on your computer and on your phone.
How to put a pin on your computer: Step 1: Open your favorite browser and go to Google Maps.
Enter a more specific location in the “Search Google Maps” field to narrow your search.
You are close now. But it’s still not close enough. Austin’s Barton Creek Greenbelt is a big place. So step it up a bit.

After zooming, select the location you want to pin. Right-click and select “Paths Here” from the drop-down menu that appears:
It will ask you to enter a starting point (where is your friend from?) and generate driving directions to that point.
Now you have to tell your friend where to go; So you may want to share those guidelines.
Click on the hamburger menu (three horizontal bars) in the upper left corner and select “Share or Embed Maps” from the long drop-down list.

How To Use Google Maps
You can navigate to or save a specific location by placing a pin on Google Maps from your desktop or mobile app. Dave Johnson/Business Insider
Google Maps made navigation so easy that it became an essential tool for getting around town (and amusingly name-checked in pop culture).
Finding almost any address is as easy as typing it into the search box, but sometimes that doesn’t work.
If the location you’re trying to go to doesn’t have an address or the address is incorrect, you can place a pin on the map instead. Also, if you don’t know the exact address, it’s better to drop the pin in a general area.

The process for releasing a pin in the Google Maps mobile app is the same regardless of the phone you’re using.
2. Find the location you want to pin on the map and zoom in as much as you need to see clearly.
3. Press and hold where you want to place the pin until the pin appears under your finger.
Now you can use the PIN. For example, you can tap “Directions” to get directions to a pin from your current location.
Set Or Change Your Home & Work Addresses
You can save this pin for later if you want. To do this, click on the ellipses in the “Label” pin options and enter a name. After that, you will always find it in your places. (Note that the Android and iPhone versions of Google Maps work a little differently. Both apps let you save and tag dropped pins, but to see the tag button on Android, tap the info box at the bottom of the screen and you’ll see all the options.)

Now it’s time to use the skewer. Clicking on the blue navigate icon in the information area will open the Google Maps navigation page. You can enter starting location and get driving directions. Alternatively, you can click anywhere in the information area to display a panel with additional information about the selected location. From there, you can click the save icon to add this place to your places for quick access in the future.
Note that you can only place one Google Maps pin at a time; If you click or tap a second time, the new pin will replace the old one. You must be signed in to your Google Account to save a pin in your Places folder.
