If you are a business owner and/or managing your company’s LinkedIn business page, the first step is to get the page name right. Many companies have multiple names, often a version with the full name and initials – for example “Lisamarie Dias Designs” and “LMDD”. In this context, I refer to “Lisamarie Dias Design (LMDD)”.
Since I don’t usually use initials, I don’t add them to my company page, but if I use a lot of company initials but can’t get just the original version (for example, another company with the same initials on their first company page), I can also use the full version above. Or, if your firm is only known by the letters in the name, you can use something like “WXY&Z Lawyers”.
Some companies have longer names but use a shortened version, such as “The Coca-Cola Company” and “Coca-Cola”. For branding purposes and to help people find you when they search for you, you can probably use a shortened version. If for some reason it is not available, you may need to add “company”, “LLC” or a keyword related to your business. If possible, stick to naming and visual branding across all platforms.

Before you make any changes to your experience section, you may want to turn off your notification settings so your network doesn’t receive “change” notifications – especially if it’s not an actual company change, but simply the addition of a link. Don’t forget to turn them back on when you’re done!

1. Sign in to LinkedIn and click the arrow next to the circle with your photo to display a drop-down menu. Click the View Profile button.
2. Scroll down to the “Experience” section – notice that you see my logo here, which means I’ve connected successfully. If you have a logo on your company page, employees whose logo does not appear in this section will not link correctly. Send them a link to this blog post so they can fix it.
3. When you are in this popup window, you will see a “Company Name” field. If you still don’t see the correct logo, you can add or change the correct company.

So I wrote this original post in 2016 and also shared it as an article on LinkedIn that year. I noticed that 125 people don’t see their company as an option in the dropdown menu. I mention this so you know it happens a lot. But it was always possible to fix it.
Remember that you have the option to choose a NAME and URL when creating a page. This will allow you to use the original brand name and also change the URL to make it unique.
Please note that as a Company Page owner/admin you cannot add employees. The employee must do this from their profile. I suggest sending them a link to this blog post along with the page title and URL so they can easily link to the page as a contributor!
